So, Last week

I was emailing with Teresa, and the great tragedy is that "Nobody wants to hear the truth".

The idea that everyone's Emotions are Leading them wrong, is so... abhorrent to them. That This Strategy is Completely impossible for them.

When I was doing a ton of I.T., I would foolishly tell clients what was wrong the real problem is that 90% of the time the mistakes people make are Personal ones. I had a client call me in because a Server they had Wasn't working. I looked at it, Tightened the power Cable, And hit the switch. They were Furious "why are you wasting your time with this? of course it's not the Power!! We don't bring you in here to Bla bla bla"

So, I grab the power cord and plug it into a power strip I Can see has power, and hit the switch. The lights come on, the fans start to spin.

So Then I move the power to the other plug on in the socket, and the computer works just fine. I grab some tape and tape up the bad Plug, and tell them to call an electrician.(I could have fixed it but what do I care.).

Ok... here is the tough part, Invoice $250.
"We arn't going to pay that, We could have figured this out ourselves",
"But you didn't"
"But that is unreasonable, $250 for a service call, and 3 Minutes of work. We won't pay it."
"I'm just that good, and you would have messed around with that for a Week."
( I had a client who spent 3 weeks with an email problem. The email server Network Cable was bad. 3 Weeks of no Email because they couldn't figure out that a cable was bad)
"So, I stop what I was doing, You know it's a min $250 fee for an emergency. I drive in here for 40 minutes, Come up here another 15, I have to bill you, that is 30 minutes. I have to drive back, This is Half a day, even at a 3 minute problem. You eat right? You pay your bills? If you couldn't' get paid for half a days' work, as a contractor... you are telling my you could make a living? You make your choice, but next time you have a problem, I'd call someone else. Cause I'll hit you for a $1000 Deposit before We talk about anything, next time.

But that is how messed up people are. They forget their passwords then Blame the computer for forgetting it.... But the last thing you want to tell a Client is that they are Wrong. You want to start talking about Solar Flares and Gremlins. They don't want to know the truth.

Like being a doctor, and the guy wants to know why he had a heart attack...; Well sir, you are Fat and are inactive all day.... "isn't' there a Pill?"

Point being, Nobody wants to hear this stuff.
