economy vs the markets

I keep wondering if it actually is a good idea to split the economy from the market. Stop having the government be at the beck and call of whatever the market is whining about this week.

Nobody is bigger than the market, It's almost volker-esqu. to say Fuck what the market thinks, lets do what we need to do.
